“the recently released EP from Victor & The New Vintage. On the surface, it’s got all the feels that we’ve come to expect from the razor-sharp, London-based reggae-rock trio that R. Victor Williams formed after disbanding his previous group, the theatrical fusion juggernaut, Liontribe — kinda rap-rock, kinda garage-reggae, ” - Soundcheck

Emerging south London band 'Victor and The New Vintage' are about to release their first singel for 2026 after releasing "Hold Me Back" (https://ditto.fm/hold_me_back), released last year. A true musical statement.  This bold LP blends Psychedelic Rock with Hip-Hop, Creating a mesmerizing sonic experience that defies genres and pushes boundaries. Victor blends genre a bit like ASAP Rocky - what's interesting - They are both from Barbadian heritage.

"Hold Me Back" features standout tracks like "Liberty", "Hold Me Back", "Be Free", "Slow", and "She Said", showcasing the band's unique fusion of experimental sounds and catchy melodies. "Slow" is a prime example of what the band calls the Reggae Grunge sound – a blend the band's eager to explore further. Other highlights include the psychedelic vibe of "Faded" and the raw energy of unapologetic energy of "Liberty".

"We wanted to create something raw and honest," says lead vocalist Victor. “The title 'Hold Me Back' reflects the tension between wanting to move forward and being pulled back – it's about finding balance in the chaos.”

Victor, a skilled rapper, sees himself more as a songwriter at heart, crafting stories that unfold through both his music and visuals. "I'm a storyteller at the end of the day," he says. "I love telling stories that blend sound and image – it's about creating a vibe."

Victor recently recovered from a shattered wrist, an injury that left him fearing he may never play again. "It was a tough time, but I'm thrilled to be healing and happily playing again," he says. “I'm looking forward to releasing our upcoming single 'Lose Control' this Spring – it's going to be a wild ride!”

Based in south London and brewing up sonic magic at Brixton Hill Studios, the band is back with a vengeance. We're also excited to welcome back Wayne James, Aman on Atmos // Rhythm Guitats the original bassist, who's returned to the project, adding depth and familiarity to the band's sound. Drummer Amalie, a perfect fit for the band's psychedelic rock-rap fusion, brings an explosive energy to the group's sound. "Amalie's beats and Wayne's basslines are a key part of our vibe," adds Victor.

The band's visual artistry is just as striking, with the music video for "Faded"

(https://youtu.be/9J6Yv2ciwhY) being a prime example – a provocative and unique blend of sound and imagery that perfectly captures the essence of their music.

Victor and The New Vintage are explosive to see live, and with "Lose Control" dropping soon, fans can expect an electrifying new chapter in the band's journey. This high-energy track promises to captivate fans and showcase the band's continued growth and creativity.

"I once read an article about Hendrix where I realised that he was about to work with with one of the founding fathers of hiphop. There was always echoe of Rage Against the Machine, Tom Morello's guitar work has always be inspirational to me and although we dont want to be just all about politics I wanted to allow the sound of that band to be an influerncial impetust to some of my writing, I grew up to their music."  - Victor
